The Economic Times Young Leaders B-School programme is a platform for recognizing and rewarding bright young talent in India's B-Schools. This initiative is meant to encourage, identify and nurture those with the potential to be India Inc's future leaders.

The programme is divided into 4 phases.

  • Aptitude - A quick online test to evaluate numerical ability and reasoning
  • Personality - Two simple personality questionnaires to test behaviour skills
  • Expertise - An assessment on functional knowledge and oral communication
  • Interview - Interview with the industry's top CEO's

A shortlist at the end of every phase determines the candidates who will move forward.

  • Final year, full-time postgraduate management students who are Indian resident nationals, as on 4 August 2017 studying in any business school in India.

Phase 1: Aptitude Test

  • Register on the ETYL B-School website click here
  • You will receive an e-mail requesting you to verify your email address. Do remember to check your junk/spam mails for this email
  • On successful verification, a test link will be e-mailed to you. Click on the link and register yourself with our knowledge partner, CEB.
  • Use the same details (Name, Email address) that you used for registration on the ETYL B-School page
  • Please keep your username and password handy, as you will need it for Phase 2 as well
  • In case you do not receive either the email verification or the test link, do write to us at
  • Please allocate approximately 45 min. for completing the test (inclusive of reading the instructions)
  • There is only one, correct answer to each question
  • All questions are compulsory. There is no negative marking.
  • It is recommended to complete the test in one-sitting.
  • If you cannot login please email the details to with the screen shot of the error that you are facing along with your link
  • There will be a score-based shortlisting and qualified candidates will move to the next phase
  • You will receive an e-mail confirming if you have made it to the next phase or not

Phase 2: Personality Questionnaires

  • All candidates who qualify for Phase 2 will receive an e-mail with a fresh link for the two personality based questionnaires
  • Please log-in with the same details you have used for Phase 1
  • There are two questionnaires you need to complete as part of Phase 2 - (i) Personality and (ii) Situational Judgement
  • You can complete the two questionnaires in any order
  • In the Personality questionnaire, you will be presented with two blocks of three statements on a page. Your task is to choose which statement is most true or typical of you and which is least like you in each block
  • In the Situational Judgement questionnaire, you will be presented with a number of different work scenarios. In each case, the scenario presented is followed by a number of possible responses. Your task is to rate each of the responses for their effectiveness in dealing with the scenario
  • There is no time limit for you to complete either of the two questionnaires
  • You can exit the questionnaire at any time. You will be able to complete the test from the page you exited. Do not exit either of the tests on more than one occasion.
  • There will be a score-based shortlisting and qualified candidates will move to the next phase
  • You will receive an e-mail confirming if you have made it to the next phase or not

Phase 3: Functional Expertise

  • Business problems based on one of the Aditya Birla Group's businesses will be emailed to the qualified candidates
  • Candidates will be given one day to decide which case they wish to work upon
  • Each candidate will be allocated a Buddy from the Aditya Birla Group with whom he/she can discuss the case
  • Students will have to submit the following: roblem Analysis and solution in a predefined format A 5 min. video presentation (details will be shared during this phase)Curriculum Vitae
  • There will be a score-based shortlisting and qualified candidates will move to the next round
  • You will receive an e-mail informing you if you have moved to the next phase or not

Phase 4: Interviews

  • Candidates who qualify for Phase 4 will be required to be present for a face to face personal interview with a CEO panel
  • This phase will be conducted in Mumbai
  • An email will be sent to you informing you of the date, time and venue of the interview
  • A separate set of instructions will be communicated to students who are away on an international exchange programme
  • Candidates will be required to submit relevant documentation as and when requested during the relevant phases of the programme
At the end of every phase, we will publish a shortlist on the website and inform shortlisted candidates on the email address and/or mobile number mentioned in the registration form.
  • The deadline for the tests and assessments cannot be extended under any circumstance.
  • Individual scores at each phase will not be revealed. We will let all the candidates know if they qualify for the next phase or not.
